Our Learning Experience team is seeking a Senior Manager, Learning Experience who is customer obsessed and believes there is always an opportunity to improve the way customers discover and engage with learning. As the leader, you'll manage and develop teams of technical learning professionals building high-impact learning experiences for our AWS Data Center Communities (DCC) organization. This position requires constant collaboration with Senior Leaders in Data Center Operations, Safety, Security, Logistics, Planning, Delivery, and other teams to determine the right training strategy and execution. Your team will ensure that we are building the most important, most impactful training solutions. Your team will design training experiences in alignment with your long-term strategy which impacts operational goals and develops operational staff and leadership over the course of their careers.

We are looking for a professional who has demonstrated deep people management expertise and the ability to build high-performing teams across multiple time zones and cultures. The ideal candidate will have proven success leading teams through organizational change while establishing and improving operational metrics that drive excellence. You must be able to prioritize workstreams in alignment with organizational goals and push the boundaries of the learning experience, sourcing and integrating the newest technology that drives productivity and value for our customers.

As the Senior Manager you will represent our organization across AWS. This entails understanding the short, medium, and long-term training and organizational goals, and translating these into an actionable vision, roadmap and people growth plans. Your role will be tasked with management of a team of experienced learning professionals – their growth and development as individuals and leaders.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. In this role you will:

- Work strategically with country and regional leaders to identify flexible learning solutions to operational challenges and work toward reducing /right-sizing the need for training.

- Develop and execute strategies and mechanisms to ensure effective development and delivery of creative and innovative training solutions that scale across multiple geographies and languages.

- Solve business problems with focus on understanding root causes and driving forward-looking opportunities.

- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to optimize learning workflows and enhance team productivity.

- Drive utilization of evaluation and performance data to support data-driven learning outcomes.

- Design new metrics and enhance existing metrics to support the future state of learning.

- Provide oversight and direction to the team that aligns with business goals and objectives.

- Experiment with and successfully implement new methods and modes of learning that build upon academic and industrial best practices.

- Develop Mixed Reality Learning experiences.

- Coach, mentor, and develop the team, including establishing and overseeing new employee on-boarding programs, and providing career development planning and opportunities.

- Provide Leadership and Coaching to Professional Learning Designers.

- Ability to Communicate at all levels, including with Executive Management.

- Own Strategy of the Learning Experience from Day 1.

- Ability to Prioritize Work in alignment with Strategic Initiatives.

- Demonstrate the Ability to Think Big and Own the Learn and Be Curious Leadership Principle as it applies to Data Center Staff.

- Gather and Use Metrics to Drive Decisions on Learning Experiences and Investments in Employees.

- Manage Team Operations to Schedule and Budget.

- Create Immersive Learning Experiences across a variety of Learning Modalities.

A day in the life

You will analyze the current learning experience of your customers across the AWS Data Center organization and actively seek opportunity to improve and innovate. You'll manage teams of designers focused on building and delivering learning experiences across all job families in alignment with the Data Center Learning organizational goals and strategy. As your team completes development of learning experiences, you'll launch learning product offerings and measure their impact over time. Using data from understanding learner behavior and performance, you'll direct the team on how to improve, where to innovate, and what operational measurements you can improve with training.

Qualifications

- BA or BS degree in a relevant field such as instructional technology, educational technology, organizational development.

- 10+ Years Developing and executing strategies, development and delivery of creative and innovative training solutions.

- 5+ years experience managing a team.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a global environment.

- Superior communication skills, including the ability to effectively manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet operational performance goals.



Extended Qualifications

- MS/MA or PhD/EdD degree in education or behavioral science.

- Experience gathering, building, interpreting, and communicating performance metrics to multiple organizational levels.

- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and design research.

- A strong focus on internal customers' needs and satisfaction, with an emphasis in demonstrating return on investment in training. A qualified candidate will be focused on how training contributes to the company's bottom line and will have the analytical skills to justify programmatic decisions with data.

- Technical aptitude to be able to quickly learn new technologies and develop various learning solutions.

- Familiarity and/or experience with program management tools, content management systems, learning management systems, translation processes, content authoring and instructional design tools.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $162,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $281,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
