A day in the life
Here is a day in the life of an Operations/Risk Manager people leader, written in the second person:
As an GPV Risk Manager, your day typically begins with leading a team huddle to review the day's agenda, discuss daily plan and make sure everyone is aligned on their priorities and responsibilities.
As an in-office people leader, you make sure to be present and available to your team as per your agreed-upon schedule. This allows you to have regular 1-on-1s, provide coaching and feedback, and address any questions or concerns that come up throughout the day. You find this face time with your team to be invaluable.
You will lead process improvement work. This could involve analyzing data to identify bottlenecks or areas for optimization, collaborating with the team to brainstorm solutions, and then integrating new technologies or procedures to help scale your operations and investigations. Continuous improvement is a core part of your role.
Finally, you always make time to connect with key stakeholders, whether that's providing updates, gathering feedback, or aligning on strategic priorities. Strong stakeholder relationships are critical to be effective in this role.
