Join us in building a strategic framework that will transform how Amazon rationalizes software development across the entire organization. In this high-impact role, you will lead cross-functional efforts to optimize our 1st party and 3rd party software development ecosystem, directly supporting a CFO-level initiative. You'll collaborate with procurement specialists and business partners to identify significant opportunities for consolidation and cost optimization while leveraging AI technologies to analyze thousands of contracts and drive meaningful business outcomes.This position requires a self-driven professional who excels in financial analytics, procurement strategy, and senior executive communication. You'll apply your expertise to develop innovative solutions that extend beyond traditional financial analysis, creating lasting impact across all Amazon business units while supporting our commitment to financial excellence and technology optimization.
Key job responsibilities
- Research and analyze technical, operational, and financial details across Amazon's software ecosystem to develop actionable insights and recommendations for software development rationalization.
- Partner with procurement and business teams to evaluate software usage patterns, study contracts, and identify strategic opportunities for consolidation and optimization across all business units.
- Create and implement frameworks for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of 1st party versus 3rd party software development, ensuring alignment with company-wide financial goals.
- Leverage advanced analytics and AI technologies to identify cost-saving opportunities across thousands of longtail contracts, developing innovative approaches to consolidation and price correction.
- Communicate complex financial analyses and recommendations to senior executives, including preparing compelling financial packages that enable data-driven decision making about the company's technology investments.
A day in the life
Your day begins with reviewing the latest AI-powered analysis of software contract patterns across Amazon's business units, identifying clusters of opportunity for consolidation. You'll meet with procurement specialists to discuss findings and develop strategies for approaching high-impact vendors. Later, you'll collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their software development needs and how they align with enterprise-wide goals. Throughout the day, you'll analyze contract terms, evaluate usage metrics, and develop recommendations that balance business requirements with financial optimization.
About the team
Software, Technology and Finance (STF) is the backbone finance team that oversees IT, Software, Hardware and core infrastructure on behalf of All Amazon. Our team plays a crucial role in ensuring financial discipline across Amazon's vast technology ecosystem while enabling innovation and growth. We partner closely with business and technology leaders to optimize investments, drive efficiency, and create frameworks that support Amazon's continued evolution. By joining STF, you'll be part of a team that directly influences how Amazon leverages technology to maintain its competitive edge while delivering exceptional financial stewardship.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- 5+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 5+ members experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
Extended Qualifications
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
- 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
