Join Amazon Project Kuiper's Global Service Compliance team as an LER Program Specialist and help create our Law Enforcement Response Team as we increase global broadband access through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. In this pivotal role, you'll help ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and support law enforcement agencies' ability to conduct lawful surveillance. As a key player in our mission to bring fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities, you'll leverage your expertise in compliance, law enforcement, and communications networks to shape policies, drive operational excellence, and mitigate risks in a highly regulated environment. This role includes elements of program management, business analysis, and communication with internal and external stakeholders of various technical ability and experience. A key part of this role is to identify and measure key performance indicators and help to drive team performance to meet these KPIs.

This opportunity demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of law enforcement response, CALEA and ECPA frameworks (or similar ones in other nations), and the ability to navigate complex challenges in the rapidly evolving satellite communications industry. Though based in the United States, the role will be global in scope and may require occasional domestic and international travel, working with law enforcement in all the nations in which Kuiper provides service. Key job responsibilities

* Use their deep knowledge of security and LER best practices to advise the Kuiper LER team.

* Be available to testify on behalf of Amazon Project Kuiper as a records custodian in the courts of North America to explain Project Kuiper records, polices, and practices.

* Expertly utilize multiple internal tools and systems to compile, analyze, and deliver accurate information while maintaining adherence to laws and strict confidentiality standards.

* Help drive continuous improvement by identifying patterns, trends, and opportunities to enhance operational efficiency in request processing. You will also contribute to policy development and process refinement, focusing on scalability and operational excellence.

* Communicate effectively and professionally with law enforcement personnel, Amazon employees, and other stakeholders, always maintaining the highest standards of discretion.

A day in the life

As a leader in the Kuiper LER-I team, you will work with law enforcement and national security agencies worldwide via phone, email and in-person. The typical day will involve responding to legal process served on Amazon Kuiper and assisting more junior LER team members with same. You may be called upon to respond to exigent law enforcement requests outside of standard business hours, as part of the team’s commitment to 24/7/365 coverage. These requests often involve urgent threats to life or safety, requiring swift, high-stakes decision-making and adherence to strict legal standards. You will help LER-I leadership maintain compliance with global obligations. You will help train LER-I Specialists to perform compliance duties. You may travel to agencies or conferences to educate requestors and resolve issues. You will help manage our controls systems to ensure the security of company and customer information.

About the team

The global team assists law enforcement and national security agencies in all of the countries in which Amazon Project Kuiper will operate. This role is part of the US based team but will support all of the global parts of our LER team.. The team operates 24/7/365 and member may subject to disturbing images or information. Our work is highly regulated and often classified so you may be required to obtain a security clearance.



Qualifications

* 7+ years of law enforcement, compliance or security industry experience

* 3+ years in a lead/SME position within communications service provider, law enforcement or compliance teams

* Knowledge of legal processes and communications service provider legal and regulatory obligations related to law enforcement/national security, including understanding of legal documents (subpoenas, search warrants, court orders) and law enforcement request procedures.

* Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.



Extended Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and procedures.

* Proven capacity to manage numerous complex and time-critical law enforcement requests simultaneously.

* Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently while managing multiple projects concurrently.

* Must hold or be capable of attaining a security clearance in the United States.

* Excellent ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients and customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
