Description

AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) is the backbone that connects the global AWS network. It is dedicated to facilitating the internet traffic that allows users to access their information and applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is also responsible for building and designing a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between Data Centers and customers.

The Interconnect team is responsible for delivering the interconnect capacity connecting the Amazon network to the internet.

The Interconnect TIPM will support the Interconnect Business Developers (BDs) to ensure that this delivery of capacity is friction-less to both internal and external networks. One form of this capacity is the use of embedded caches which are deployed with ISPs' networks.

The role of the TIPM includes supporting the coordination and project management with those external ISPs for the deployment of caches. The TIPM is expected to anticipate issues or problems with the wide-scale global deployment of embedded caches with ISPs, including supply-chain, logistics, installation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, reporting, tools and operations. The TIPM is expected to find opportunities for process improvements and introduction of new tools or automation.

If you like to work with new technologies and optimize existing technology, and have experience participating in network/systems support for a large-scale enterprise or a service provider, we’d love for you to apply! Your work will play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks.

Key job responsibilities

- Own embedded caching deployments from time of contract signing until completed CloudFront provisioning.

- Liaise with ISP and site contacts to gather and validate site information to enable expedient and accurate handoff to CloudFront.

- Manage deployments of multiple caches with ISPs to ensure efficiency and reduce repetition of asks. This aligns with the common approach ISPs take when deploying multiple caches of having a single PM managing all sites.

- Partake in troubleshooting with ISPs / colocation / cross connect providers when installs are not successful the first time.

- Assist CloudFront with break/fix and ISP communications as needed.

- Establish or improve on documentation and reporting.

- Work on continual embedded caching deployment process improvement in conjunction with CloudFront. This includes the development of new tools, new forms of reporting or new processes and workflows.

About the team

Amazon connects its global network to numerous external networks to deliver content and services to customers worldwide. This connectivity comes in two forms: direct peering with destination networks or transit through intermediary networks.

The AGIS team manages all external network relationships, securing connectivity in optimal locations. Peering arrangements are either settlement-free (SFI) or paid, with most being SFI. When necessary, the team conducts commercial negotiations to acquire paid peering or transit capacity.

Additionally, AGIS negotiates embedded caching contracts, deploying caching platforms within external networks to enhance content delivery and performance.
