Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are hiring an Industrial Engineer to support Factory Planning within our GSE Engineering team. This role will be responsible for the heartbeat of satellite production facility delivery. They will develop and deliver plans for facility layout and function, and will unite production teams to achieve mission success. This individual will work with a wide variety of contractors, technicians, engineers, architects, and Amazon leaders to develop and deliver a vision that meets our satellite production goals.

Key job responsibilities

- Develop and maintain high-level CAD models, rate calculators, and equipment lists for production and product flow through the factory

- Develop and maintain high-level utility budgets, LN2, GN2, Compressed Air, Electrical

- Drive a unified production vision across a variety of different product lines within available constraints

- Deliver plans for layout and construction of factory cells based on co-development with area leaders

- Work with internal and external teams to deliver rate capable facilities to meet timelines

Qualifications

- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

- Experience with prototyping and implementation



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
