Description
We are seeking a Principal HR Business Partner to power the trajectory of the business by ensuring Amazon has the right talent mix, senior leadership, and capabilities to innovate and deliver for customers. This is an individual contributor role embedded within the Amazon Ads PXT (People eXperience and Technology team) organization, serving as a leader of people and organizational strategy who accelerate business outcomes through diagnosis, development, and execution of talent strategy. You'll build trusted relationships with senior leaders, acting as a coach, change agent, and trusted advisor on talent and organizational design decisions that drive business results. You'll operate as a member of the business leadership team, bringing perspectives on the intersections of people and business strategy while collaborating across PXT teams to build and deliver an integrated people plan.Key job responsibilities
As a deeply embedded strategic partner to senior leaders, you will lead people and organizational strategy across your supported business. This role demands business acumen, high judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity, as you'll be responsible for:
- Evaluating and building organizational effectiveness, including how we organize work, mechanisms, and people practices strengthening culture and achieve business goals
- Leveraging knowledge of the business and global landscape, including internal strategy and external factors, to tailor people-focused solutions that drive business outcomes
- Interpreting key people metrics and trends, leveraging mechanisms (MBRs, QBRs, business planning cycles) to inspect and monitor risks, evaluate practices for potential bias, and recommend solutions
- Utilizing Amazon Org Design mechanisms to design, recommend, and implement organization structures aligned with business strategy and inclusive decision-making
- Assessing senior leader talent needs, developing strategies to build required skills through hiring, internal development, succession planning, and talent movement
- Coaching and advising individual leaders and leadership teams on improving management abilities, accelerating inclusive leadership practices, and strengthening culture
- Driving change management by using listening mechanisms to identify trends, risks, and hotspots, and guiding organizational evolution across supported teams
- Building long-term inclusive workforce plans aligned with business objectives, considering cost, skills, and location strategy, while anticipating industry trends and future talent needs • Proactively creating talent goals and cadence with the Senior Leadership team, building inclusive talent mechanisms into the organization's rhythm of business
A day in the life
In this role, you will start with the business first and speak the language of the business. You'll partner directly with senior leaders to build customer-centric organizations that foster agility and empower decision-making at the frontlines. You'll move between long-term organizational strategy and near-term talent decisions, using data, mechanisms, and insights to inform your recommendations. You'll coach leaders through organizational changes, challenge mental models on ways of working and talent decisions, and champion inclusion across all aspects of organizational strategy. Balancing competing priorities across multiple stakeholders, you'll navigate complex situations with high judgment, making recommendations without always having clear-cut guidelines to follow. You'll collaborate with HR Partners, Employee Relations, IXT, Legal, Talent Management, and other PXT teams to orchestrate and deliver integrated people plans that accelerate business delivery.

Qualifications
- Experience partnering with business leaders in highly complex and dynamic business settings- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Experience analyzing HR data and translating metrics into actionable workforce strategies
- Experience driving change management in complex, fast-paced environments
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 7 years in HR Business Partner or equivalent roles
Extended Qualifications
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams- Experience assessing industry talent and trends, or experience working for Amazon or any Amazon subsidiary or affiliate
- Experience coaching senior leaders on leadership effectiveness and inclusive leadership practices
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and navigate leaders through organizational changes
- Experience with strategic planning processes including 3-Year Planning and OP1/OP2

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
