Description
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.As Head of Supplier Quality, you will lead a team of talented quality professionals responsible for the quality assurance and control activities for a large supply chain of electronics, mechanical parts and semiconductors. You will work with Engineering, Sourcing and Manufacturing teams to establish and operate quality system mechanisms that deliver high-performance satellite components and sub-assemblies at unprecedented volume.
Key job responsibilities
- Overall leader for Kuiper Supplier Quality
- Own the quality management system and its mechanisms for Kuiper's supply chain operations
- Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and Source Inspectors covering PCBAs, Machined Parts, Components, Harnesses, Optics, Electro-Mechanical Assemblies and Custom Semiconductors
- Drive defect identification and reduction activities including application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
- Move quality checks upstream and eliminate the need to inspect quality into the product by achieving high process capability
- Foster a culture of quality, improvement and learning with Kuiper
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

This role is a people manager and is the top quality leader within Kuiper's supply chain operations. This role must identify and solve problems within a supply chain while coaching teams and developing mechanisms to consistently deliver high-quality products.

Kuiper Quality’s mission is to ensure that our supply chain, manufacturing and launch operations build, deliver and launch high-quality satellite infrastructure that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Electrical) or related discipline, or equivalent experience.- 10+ years in high-reliability manufacturing or supply chain environments
- 7+ years working under AS9100 or ISO9001 compliance, or similar
- 7+ years leading APQP and Root Cause Analysis for hardware failures across multiple disciplines (PCBA, machining, composites, harnesses, assembly, avionics, test)
- 7+ years managing Quality/Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Operations teams
Extended Qualifications
- GD&T, ASME Y14.5 and machined part inspection processes- IPC610 Class 3 compliant electronics assembly and inspection processes
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
- 7+ years working with space or aviation hardware, working with standard aerospace materials

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
