Description

Amazon Games is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Localization to lead our localization strategy and team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing localization processes within the gaming industry, ensuring the delivery of high-quality localized content across multiple titles. This role demands strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

As Head of Localization, you will lead a team and oversee the localization development of our portfolio of games into target languages. You will ensure the conversion of content into localized versions meets our high standards of quality. Leveraging your expertise in localization and gaming, you will develop and manage relationships and strategies with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key job responsibilities

- Develop and oversee the localization strategy, schedule, budget, and quality targets throughout the product lifecycle for all games.

- Lead and manage the localization team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.

- Oversee the localization schedule, budget, and assets for multiple games, ensuring timely delivery and quality.

- Design and implement scalable and efficient localization processes and workflows.

- Monitor and ensure the quality of localized content, driving continuous improvement initiatives.

- Manage relationships with external localization and localization QA vendors and partners.

- Collaborate with development, marketing, legal, and finance teams to align localization efforts with overall business objectives.

- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in localization technology and practices.

- Provide localization expertise and support during the game development and launch phases.

- Ensure compliance with legal and cultural requirements in all localized content.

About the team

The Localization Team owns the translation of all in-game and game-related assets for Amazon Games. We work with internal and external game developers to publish their titles globally and ensure they connect with a local audience. As part of the larger Live Operations team within Amazon Games, the Localization Teams works closely with teams such as Marketing, Player Support, and Release Management to ensure the timely delivery of localized assets that enable games-as-a-service to be enjoyed worldwide.



Qualifications

- 7+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

- 5+ years of team management experience

- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

- Proven track record of successfully shipping multiple game titles.

- Proficiency with industry-standard localization tools and Translation Management Systems.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one other language.

- Experience with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.



Extended Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience in localization management within the gaming industry.

- Deep understanding of the challenges and complexities of localizing games-as-a-service.

- Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.

- Demonstrated history of improving localization processes and outcomes.

- Strong understanding of modern game development, localization, and publishing practices.

- Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

- Experience working with enterprise-level Translation Management Systems such as memoQ (preferred), Trados, or XLOC

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
