As a Prime Video leader , you’ll have end-to-end ownership of Global CDN capacity management, design, and technology solutions required to deliver state-of-the-art experiences for our customers. We are looking for a talented Senior Software Development Manager to lead the development and deployment of scalable, automated Global Video Delivery Solutions (CDN capacity management, video delivery services etc). We operate at Amazon scale where you will lead your teams to design and deploy software that will benefit millions of customers globally. The ideal candidate is passionate about leading and building strong software engineering teams. You are equally obsessed about delivering the best possible customer experiences. You lead the team in defining software architecture. You define and drive key performance and quality metrics for your team. You communicate effectively with engineers, partners, leaders and a broad set of stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

Living in the Future – Think strategically by having a good 3-year plan and then organizing the roadmap each year to achieve that vision

Execution – Ensure that roadmap projects are delivered on time without any major defects

Operations – You are responsible for Global Video Delivery. Do keep a daily eye on CDN/ISP metrics along with the health of key applications/services in your area

People Management – To deliver a world class experience for our customers, you must have a world class team. Hire the best and then coach them to be even better

Stakeholder management – Amazon and Prime Video are heavily matrixed. Your success depends on your stakeholders delivering alongside you. Build great relationships and communicate regularly.

A day in the life

Working with the Product leader and your team leads to keep an eye on the implementation of strategic initiatives (CDN Capacity Management, Feature development, Re-engineering for scale etc)

People management - 1:1s with your team (manager, engineers) to keep a pulse on group morale, sub-team challenges

Strategic Meetings with Senior leadership (MBR, QBR, OP1, 3YP, Roadmap updates etc)

Update leadership on relevant program statuses.

Operations management – review production metrics and dashboards to keep an eye on global video delivery for PV

About the team

Prime Video Delivery is the team responsible for orchestrating the best content delivery experience for Prime Video customers. Whether a request is for video-on-demand or a live event we strive to have sufficient capacity available for customers so they have the highest quality viewing experience with zero buffering.



Qualifications

- 10+ years of engineering experience

- 5+ years of engineering team management experience

- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment



Extended Qualifications

- Experience partnering with product and program management teams

- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

- 5+ years of Media, video processing or content delivery networking experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
