Innovation is part of our DNA! Our goal is to be Earth’s most customer-centric company and we are just getting started. We are looking for people who want to join an ambitious team that continues to push the state of the art in computer vision, machine learning, distributed systems and hardware design.
As an Optical Engineer, you will help invent the future by conceiving, designing and developing innovative consumer products which utilize machine learning and deep neural net algorithms , where optics play a central role. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team to drive key aspects of camera imaging architecture, definition, execution, test and delivery. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast paced start-up like environment and are highly motivated, responsive, collaborative, and detail oriented while delivering to the highest standards
Responsibilities include
• Serve as the technical lead for designing and developing optical sensing systems such as RGB and IR cameras
• Design imaging and illumination solutions for computer vision applications
• Take the design from concept to prototype and production deployment
• Work with cross-functional team to draft component specification and lead design reviews
• Perform hands-on bring-up, testing and troubleshooting of optics, ISP and related HW/SW stack
A day in the life
Daily activities can be highly varied. For some projects, you might be specifying, procuring samples of, testing, or designing custom camera modules. In architectural phases, you'll be working with other OE's and disciplines to define custom optical hardware with cameras, illumination sources, filtering methods, and system integration that meet hardware requirements and delight customers through seemingly magical performance. You'll manage vendors for off the shelf or custom hardware, and interface with manufacturers to define test systems and limits for high-volume, high-yield assembly of devices from your designs. You'll interact with other disciplines- electrical, mechanical, and test engineering to align on decisions and drive innovation.
About the team
The Just Walk Out hardware team (Argon) develops the hardware and firmware that enable our sensor, vision, and RF solutions that enable the frictionless shopping experience in our cashierless stores. We are a group of many engineering disciplines, all working together closely to ideate, prototype, mature, and launch into high volume production custom hardware products.
