Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Are you interested in creating, planning, and executing the strategy behind where AWS deploys Government non-standard service capacity around the world? AWS has an immediate opening for a Sr. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) to support government region and non-standard infrastructure supply planning and long-range strategy planning initiatives. Similar to new region planning initiatives, you will work with Global Program Leads and local supply planning and capacity scaling teams around the world to develop and implement a robust infra strategy and capacity supply and scaling plan to meet the infrastructure capacity needs of multiple AWS services.
The Government & Non-Standard Infrastructure Global Delivery team supports AWS by driving cross-functional deployment planning and execution to continue expanding AWS’s global data center capacity. A successful candidate will be a professional with strong program strategy and management experience in driving decisions around infrastructure planning and execution. They will be a particularly strong communicator, both written and verbally, with experience in strategic planning and medium to large program management. Strong judgment, relationship building skills, ability to lead by influence, problem solving talent, and project team leadership experience, along with the tenacity to thrive and succeed in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment brimming with competing priorities are critical.
In this role, a successful Candidate will work with remote project teams and stakeholders delivering novel and sometimes pioneering solutions across multiple countries and time-zones; building data-driven business cases for supply proposals; assessing, identifying, and mitigating downstream risk; troubleshooting unforeseen and time-critical planning issues as they arise; removing bureaucratic barriers to project success; and dealing with persistent uncertainty, pitfalls, and change to drive disparate stakeholders to deliver against peculiar and unfamiliar requirements using innovative mechanisms and tactics. They will drive cross-functional decision making to implement changes and corrective actions that improve regional infrastructure performance; identify and develop innovative cost-saving projects and initiatives related to infrastructure deployments in new geographies; anticipate situations that conflict with infrastructure deployment plans and rectify risks before they create adverse impact to deployment launch schedules, cost structure, and supply continuity; and drive continual improvement to infrastructure planning and execution processes.
The Candidate must be comfortable being able to build and manage cross-functional matrixed teams, establish trust with a variety of internal customers and stakeholders, eliminate non-value-add activities, design practical solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to meet competing needs. They must also have experience managing fast paced technical project teams; developing, monitoring, and reporting project/program health metrics; developing and implementing change management plans; and driving position readiness improvement. Most importantly, the Candidate must be able to act independently, using good judgement to drive timely decision making and deliver high-quality results.
