Description

We are seeking a high judgment, detail-oriented, and results-driven Financial Communications Manager to play a central role in shaping and executing Amazon’s financial narrative to external and internal stakeholders. This role will be part of the Finance and Governance team in the Corporate Communications organization. It works cross-functionally across all Amazon businesses and narratives to help execute Amazon’s quarterly earnings communications, manage financial media relationships, and support CFO communications. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, operates with impeccable judgment and discretion, and enjoys translating complex business and financial information into clear, compelling, and consistent messages across channels.

Key job responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Quarterly Communications

• Support the development and execution of the quarterly earnings communications process and workback plan.

• Develop and manage communications tactics, including drafting talking points, social media content, and employee engagement materials.

• Partner with PR, Investor Relations (IR), Finance, Legal to gather claims, and ensure messaging consistency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Financial Media Relations

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial journalists, business reporters, and top-tier media outlets.

• Manage reactive and proactive financial media relations, including fielding inquiries, identifying opportunities, and preparing briefing materials.

• Serve as a communications advisor to other teams for financial issues, providing counsel and developing strategies to protect and enhance the company's corporate reputation.

• Monitor media coverage and industry trends, synthesizing insights to inform communications strategies and executive positioning.

Cross-Functional Project Management & Stakeholder Alignment

• Serve as the primary project manager for financial corporate announcements – such as 10-K filings (risk factors, tax disclosures, etc), and corporate structure projects – by creating detailed timelines, tracking deliverables, and working with cross-functional teams (PR, IR, Finance, Legal).

• Drive alignment and consistency in messaging across all external and internal channels, ensuring the corporate and financial narrative is unified and compelling.

Executive Communications

• Support communications activities for Amazon’s Chief Financial Officer, including preparing for internal events and activities, social media, and media opportunities.



Qualifications

- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

- Bachelor's degree

- Experience in media relations and issues management

- Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form

- Experience engaging with and influencing C-level executives



Extended Qualifications

- Proven track record of building relationships with top tier media and managing proactive and reactive media engagement.

- Business and financial acumen: Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and translate financial statements and complex business strategies into clear, audience-appropriate messages.

- • C-Suite Experience: Demonstrated success advising and supporting C-level executives.Ability to synthesize complex topics into digestible messages: Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a track record of crafting compelling narratives for diverse audiences (media, employees, investors).

- Strong stakeholder management and ability to earn trust: Proven experience successfully collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders.

- Project management expertise: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

- High judgement and integrity: Capacity to operate with discretion, manage sensitive information, and make sound, timely decisions in complex situations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
