Description
AWS Finance seeks a world-class Senior Financial Analyst to be a key member of a high-performing team supporting a strategic portfolio of AWS services. This role works closely with finance management as well as key business partners to drive thoughtful analysis and controllership.You will support end-to-end P&Ls for several dependent services within the AWS Storage portfolio, working across multiple business and finance teams to drive insights into business performance, lead key financial processes and projects, and champion process improvements across the organization. You will manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables across teams, proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities, and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders. Strong business partnership and communication skills are essential.
This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. With regular interaction across various business units at Amazon, strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical to success.
Key job responsibilities
- Own service-level P&L reporting and consolidated financial views across a portfolio of AWS services, including variance analysis and executive-ready commentary for WBR/MBR/QBR and annual OP planning reviews
- Build complex financial models, analytical tools, and short- and long-range forecasts to measure performance against goals
- Identify and quantify Risks & Opportunities (R&O), proactively surfacing trends and anomalies to drive decisions
- Drive financial controllership across the portfolio: ensure accuracy in cost allocation, billing, and financial presentation
- Collaborate with finance and business leaders — including GMs, PMs, and Engineers — to provide analytical support for strategic decisions and drive alignment across teams
- Improve P&L performance through deep analysis of revenue trends, usage patterns, cost drivers, and operational efficiencies; support ad-hoc strategic projects and evaluate new business ideas
- Write and present narratives for senior leadership that clearly communicate performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and standardization, to increase reporting reliability and efficiency
Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
Extended Qualifications
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
- Experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer, or experience as a lean sensei

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
