Description
AWS Finance seeks a Senior Finance Analyst to support the growing AWS Public Sector business. As part of the Regions Finance team, they will support business partners by providing financial strategic decision support, P&L analysis, and controllership to a wide variety of stakeholders across the business. This position will work closely with key business partners and senior finance management to drive thoughtful planning and analysis to help drive important strategic decisions as the business expands.Specifically, this position will own the full P&Ls for the infrastructure regions that support Public Sector customers, including revenue, operating costs, and free cash flow. They will use these P&Ls to drive strategic business decisions, including infrastructure expansion and initiatives to support customer adoption. Additionally, this position will own budgets for senior business leaders, working with them to build out cost forecasts, track how these forecasts align with actuals, identify the key business drivers, and quantify the P&L impact to the business.
This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong people skills.
The successful candidate must be able to think strategically, perform dive deep analytics, and communicate effectively to senior management.
Key job responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance P&L models and financial metrics for existing AWS Public Sector regions, and build out reporting and analyses when new regions launch
- Develop deep and impactful business insights and KPI dashboards, and lead ad hoc analyses
- Communicate frequently and effectively with business leaders, using timely and accurate financials to help make business decisions
- Drive the financial planning / budgeting process for AWS Public Sector regions, and track the key drivers on how the regions are performing compared to the plan
- Analyze new business ideas, make analytical judgments, and provide data intensive analyses to drive meaningful change
- Lead key analytical projects that assist and influence the business.
- Develop plans and operational strategies for new initiatives to drive adoption in regions
- Provide deep analytics and communicate effectively to senior business leaders
Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- Due to the nature of work performed, this position requires that the selected candidate be a U.S. citizen.
Extended Qualifications
- 3+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience- Experience in financial modeling, P&L management or analysis
- Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase), SQL and Data warehouse
- Experience working with stakeholders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
