Description
We are looking for a strategic Finance leader to own the P&L attribution methodology and financial strategy for Amazon Ads. This is a high-impact Principal Finance role that will reimagine our attribution framework from first principles, drive end-to-end execution partnering cross-functionally with business and finance contacts across Amazon, and deliver scalable financial frameworks that keep pace with Amazon Ads' growing business complexity. This role requires a first-principles thinker who can influence senior leadership, operate unconstrained by legacy structures, and drive business decisions through rigorous financial analysis and compelling storytelling.The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to senior leadership across Ads SVP and direct reports, business and finance teams within and outside of the Ads organization, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of Ads P&L attributions, lead long-range financial planning and quarterly forecasting, and architect guidance frameworks for key financial reviews that drive clarity of ownership and accountability. Individuals in this role have advancement opportunities to support different businesses and multi-functional teams; and to lead new programs and initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and own the methodology to attribute the economic value of Amazon's advertising activities, redesigning from first principles with a clear implementation roadmap to drive sound decision-making"
- Drive end-to-end execution of the new framework, partnering cross-functionally with finance, engineering, and data teams across Amazon
- Develop strategic financial narratives and deep-dive analyses for Amazon Ads senior leadership team (SVP and direct reports), influencing investment decisions
- Lead long-range planning, forecasting, and budgeting while raising the bar on automation and transparency
- Serve as the primary finance partner to business finance teams on data integrity and attribution alignment
- Architect guidance frameworks and workback plans, driving clarity of ownership across teams
- Identify opportunities to simplify and automate key financial planning and reporting processes, shifting capacity toward strategic work

A typical day provides an opportunity to innovate: redesigning attribution frameworks from first principles, building financial models that drive investment decisions, analyzing cross-functional data for accuracy at scale, and solving problems that shape strategic planning. You will partner closely with business finance, engineering, and data teams to define the future of Ads P&L attribution.
About the team
Ads Central FP&A runs financial processes that span across the Ads organization and assist the CFO in supporting the Ads SVP. Our team coordinates efforts across all Ads Finance teams and provides critical information for Amazon-wide P&L meetings. We support Advertising leaders by consolidating deliverables, standardizing processes, establishing financial controls, building decision-making tools, and providing insightful analysis on both short and long-term strategy. Our work directly impacts executive decision-making and helps shape the future direction of Amazon's advertising business.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- 7+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience
- Experience with Tableau, Python, SQB, Quicksight, Cognos or or other BI packages
Extended Qualifications
- MBA, or CPA- Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes
- 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
