Description

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright and driven people. If you'd like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online, this is your chance to make history.

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Finance team is seeking a Finance Manager to support Sourcing Execution & Performance (SE&P). This team is responsible for orchestrating the flow of inbound movements through Amazon's supply chain WW, from purchase order to receive, as well as vendor performance systems and policies. This includes increasing access to supply, driving adoption of Electronic Integration automation technologies, improving the quality and coverage of signals that our suppliers, carriers and Amazon systems generate, and reducing supply chain defects. This new organization brings together teams driving sourcing execution (including domestic and direct imports) with teams owning vendor performance and policies to support that execution. You will work directly with a global team of research scientists, AI and machine learning engineers, software developers, and product managers who are building autonomous systems that make millions of decisions daily. As the finance partner, you'll engage in model design discussions as the financial SME — ensuring algorithms incorporate appropriate financial inputs — and build the metrics and mechanisms to audit whether those models are delivering the outcomes we intended. You will also be the controller for the Vendor Chargebacks account, helping connect the dots between sourcing defects and the impact to Amazon’s bottom line.

This is a perfect position for someone who knows how to drive consensus across stakeholders, work fast, and smart. Your experience has taught you how to look around corners and surface issues before they arise. You are passionate about finding simple solutions to complex problems, and data-driven decisions. You are deeply curious about how algorithms drive business outcomes at scale — and you're comfortable interrogating model outputs, challenging assumptions, and asking "is this optimizing for the right thing?" You are obsessed with our customer and understand the importance of making choices that are beneficial in the long-term. You are able to navigate complex topics and dive deep to understand the root cause of unexpected anecdotes, without losing sight of the full picture. You know which details make all the difference, and which ones don't add value. You know the difference between spending time wisely and wasting time.

Key job responsibilities

- Manage the development and maintenance of weekly and monthly financial metrics, planning, forecasting, and reporting models for WW Vendor Chargebacks — driving continuous innovation and communicating insights to Operations and Retail partners

- Build and improve metrics and audit mechanisms to evaluate algorithmic decision outcomes — identifying when systems are underperforming and bringing data-driven recommendations to course-correct

- Translate complex algorithmic sourcing decisions into clear explanations for leadership, answering "why did the system recommend X" with financial and business context

- Collect, analyze, and manage quantitative data to create meaningful reports that drive business improvement and cost reductions

- Conduct root cause analysis and uncover core issues using data to drive actions and improvements

- Conduct ad hoc analysis to quantify financial impact of opportunities and risks

- Communicate verbally and in writing to business customers and leadership with various levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems and sharing insights and recommendations

- Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated, and timely

- Leverage AI and automation tools — including GenAI assistants and AI-powered data platforms — to accelerate analysis, improve productivity, and continuously explore new ways to deliver higher-quality insights faster

A day in the life
