Description
The AWS Database Finance organization needs a finance professional to provide Financial planning and analysis for DynamoDB. Amazon DynamoDB (DDB) is a fully managed, serverless, key-value NoSQL database service designed to run high-performance applications at any scale.We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to drive strategic financial planning and analysis for AWS Database Services, with a primary focus on DynamoDB. This role combines deep financial expertise with cloud infrastructure knowledge to plan and optimize capacity planning for internal and external customers, pricing strategies, and cost management driving CapEx savings across one of AWS's most critical service offerings.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with AWS Database business leadership to provide financial insights that drive decision-making for both internal operations and external customer-facing initiatives
- Lead comprehensive capacity planning analysis for DynamoDB services, including demand forecasting, resource allocation modeling, and scalability assessments to support both current operations and future growth
- Own end-to-end pricing strategy formulation for AWS Database services, including competitive analysis, margin optimization, and pricing model recommendations that balance profitability with market competitiveness
- Identify, quantify, and implement cost optimization initiatives across database infrastructure, driving operational efficiency while maintaining service quality and performance standards
- Manage capital expenditure planning processes, including ROI analysis, investment prioritization, and budget allocation recommendations for database infrastructure investments
- Lead the annual financial planning cycle for AWS Database Services, including revenue forecasting, expense budgeting, headcount planning, and variance analysis reporting
- Develop and maintain comprehensive financial dashboards, KPI tracking, and executive reporting that provides actionable insights into business performance and trends
A day in the life
- Reports and key metrics ownership such as MBR and WBRs
- Develop business insights and analyses.
- Compile and review financial results, create forecast and operational plans and communicate to finance/business leaders
- Support modeling efforts for pricing, product strategy and infrastructure investment decisions
About the team
The team is group of Finance Managers and Analyst supporting Non-Relational Database finance. We own Full P&L management for Non-relational Database finance and this team rolls under AWS Services Finance
Qualifications
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
Extended Qualifications
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
