***Role is based in Seattle, WA.***Within Amazon’s Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A), the Planning & Insights team enjoys a unique vantage point into everything happening within Amazon. Our team provides strategic support to the CFO, CEO, senior leadership and the Board of Directors on enterprise-wide planning, analysis, and reporting. As the central place the entire company looks to for an understanding of financial performance, we play a major role in driving company-wide financial processes and business decisions.
The Planning & Insights team seeks a talented Principal Finance Manager to own and lead two key global processes. In this role, you will be the global process owner for public and non-public financial data reporting for the legal community, and will drive governance and process and technology advances for this space, working closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal and Technology partners across Amazon. In addition, you will own the Corporate FP&A learning and development program where you will oversee the vision, roadmap and delivery of FP&A training to elevate the skills of Finance professionals across Amazon.
The successful candidate will be strategic, analytical, solution-oriented, and have a demonstrated ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through compelling verbal and written communication. The ability to effectively sort through ambiguity, manage through multiple competing priorities, and coach the team and project members will be key to the success of this role.
Beyond the meaningful day-to-day responsibilities, this role offers immense opportunities for professional growth and development through regular interactions with multiple VPs and Directors across the company, and by building effective partnerships across Finance and non-Finance functions.
Key job responsibilities
• Partner with stakeholders in Legal, Finance, and Accounting to provide thought leadership and stewardship of requests from Legal for financial information, with responsibility to help identify stakeholders, broker conversations on data options, and drive alignment on approach, and consistently ensure that the output meets Amazon’s high quality standards
• Establish and maintain effective governance processes and reporting mechanisms for financial reporting of public and non-public information to the global Legal community
• Work closely with the Finance Technology team to maintain and deliver strategic and operational enhancements of internal reporting tools
• Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical and process constraints
• Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple groups with competing priorities
• Coach and support team to help develop in roles and advance in their careers
Qualifications
- 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Experience working cross-functionally with a wide breadth of stakeholders, users, engineers, and leaders to generate buy-in
- Experience with process improvement and delivery of financial features
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
Extended Qualifications
- MBA, or CPA- Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes
- Experience working with legal teams or working on regulatory- or compliance-related deliverables involving financial information
- Project management experience, particularly in developing and implementing large-scale technology projects for finance teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
