Description
As a Principal Engineering Program Manager in the WW Engineering and Innovation (WWEI) organization, you will serve as a strategic technical leader responsible for providing executive-level guidance, and engineering planning oversight across the organization's most critical engineering initiatives and rhythm of business. This unique role combines high-level strategic planning with deep technical expertise, supporting senior leadership and orchestrating complex, cross-organizational programs. You will lead the Engineering PMO for the organization, shape technical direction, drive organizational effectiveness, and ensure successful delivery of strategic priorities while spearheading transformation initiatives and process excellence across our worldwide teams.Key job responsibilities
**Strategic Leadership & Planning**
Define multi-year engineering roadmaps aligning with business goals and emerging technologies
Own and manage critical strategic planning processes and documentation, including three-year plans, Big Rock Initiatives, and quarterly business reviews
Create and implement Strategic Programs (SP) mental model, framework, and charter for the organization
Serve as a strategic advisor to the Engineering verticals supporting in senior-level meetings and critical decision-making forums
Lead ideation of high-priority worldwide initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and objectives
**Program Management & Execution**
Lead and oversee critical engineering and technical initiatives across multiple teams, aligning projects with the organization's strategic goals and roadmap from planning to delivery
Establish and maintain scalable program management practices that balance efficiency with appropriate oversight
Provide engineering oversight across multiple teams of engineers, product, and process experts
Establish and monitor key performance metrics to drive operational excellence
Lead data-driven decision making for resource allocation, priority setting, and business case development for major initiatives
**Innovation & Benchmarking**
Analyze data within Amazon and across the industry, and build trusted reports that present data-backed insights and recommendations
Collect industry leading technology and product improvements happening in emerging countries such as MENA, India, Japan, LATAM
Pioneer new approaches to solve complex engineering optimization problems in transportation, logistics, and fulfillment
Collaborate with Science, Tech, and Business Intelligence teams to identify and implement innovative AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency
**Stakeholder Management & Communication**
Develop and deliver executive-level communications and recommendations, synthesizing complex technical and programmatic information into actionable insights
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, key stakeholders, and engineering teams, driving consensus on complex cross-organizational challenges
Lead the development and distribution of executive-level business reviews, with focus on continuous innovation and strategy roadmaps
**Team Development & Change Management**
Lead the PMO team, providing strategic direction and mentorship while establishing governance frameworks and mechanisms that drive operational excellence
Mentor Program Managers within the Strategic Programs team on strategy creation, benchmarking, and leadership presentations
Lead change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes and technologies across multiple organizations
Actively participate in hiring processes to build high-performing teams, and build pipeline for the future leaders that can lead engineering verticals
A day in the life
You will partner with engineering verticals within and across the org in consistently delivering high standard outputs bringing cadenced visibility to team’s accomplishments, goals and initiatives progress, risks and opportunities, and when leadership decisions are required. Your role involves synthesizing complex information for executive-level reviews while maintaining clear communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed of new strategies and impacts. You will identify areas of innovation and need for business strategies that deliver measurable organizational impact. Your strategy charters will propose and drive new initiatives across the organization. Working independently benchmarking industry leading-edge technologies and automations, you will compare and evaluate the need for strategies to fast track innovation and new product requirements. You will work closely with planning, engineering, business intelligence, program and central teams to develop data-driven insights and metrics that guide strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is well-organized, expert in planning, ability to facilitate senior leadership reviews and decisions effectively, turn feedback into programmatic improvements.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience- 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
- Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple teams in support of business goals
- Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects, or experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
- Knowledge of diverse MHS, industrial mechanical and electrical systems and automation, controls and robotics systems
- 7+ years of program or project management or project engineering experience working with planning, engineering, and execution teams
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree, or MBA in management, business administration, economics, engineering, marketing- 6+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition throughout the product life cycle from concept to end of lifecycle
- Experience leading organizational change initiatives across multiple locations
- Experience establishing and managing engineering PMO governance frameworks and mechanisms

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
