Description
The AWS Professional Services (ProServe) Telco, Media & Entertainment, Gaming and Sports (TMEGS) Delivery Practice is seeking a Sr. Engagement Manager (EM) to own the delivery of complex, outcome-based cloud and AI programs for our customers. In this role you are accountable for business outcomes, not just project milestones. You will help shape what we commit to, negotiate it with customer executives, and deliver it profitably. Most of our engagements are delivered on a fixed-price, outcome-based model. You will turn customer ambitions into measurable outcomes, clear acceptance criteria and a milestone plan that both the customer and AWS can stand behind. You will work with sales and solution architects before signature to make sure what we sell is deliverable. After signature, you will manage scope, change and commercial performance with discipline: tracking earned value, protecting margin, and negotiating trade-offs with customer executives when priorities shift. You are comfortable having difficult conversations early, and you know how to protect both the customer relationship and the commercial position.
You will lead delivery teams that use AI throughout the delivery lifecycle, from requirements and design through code generation, testing and operations, to deliver outcomes faster and at higher quality than traditional approaches. You are hands-on with AI-assisted delivery tools, and fluent enough in architecture and engineering to challenge AI-generated plans and designs, make informed trade-offs on performance, security, scalability and cost, and keep quality high as delivery speed increases. You apply AWS frameworks such as Well-Architected and the Cloud Adoption Framework, and you build automated quality gates so standards hold as delivery scales.
Our largest programs combine AWS builders with AWS Partner Network (APN) partners and sometimes customer-selected system integrators. You will orchestrate this mixed workforce to a single quality bar. That means setting clear accountability, consistent acceptance criteria and mechanisms that make standards hold by design rather than by inspection. You will also drive change management on the customer side, so the organization adopts what we build and the business value is realized.
You will build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders up to C-level, report progress in terms of business value delivered, and spot leading indicators of risk such as velocity, environment stability, partner quality and team health, acting on them before they become escalations. As you grow, you will lead larger multi-workstream programs, help shape how we price and measure outcomes, and contribute reusable assets, patterns and AI-enabled practices that make the next engagement faster than the last. You are expected to achieve and maintain relevant AWS certifications, including in AI, and to develop deep domain expertise.
The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team of experts that help customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work together with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud and AI initiatives. We provide a collection of offerings that help customers achieve specific outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption, and focused guidance through our global specialty practices, which cover a variety of solutions, technologies and industries.
Key job responsibilities
- Owning delivery of complex, outcome-based cloud and AI programs end to end, accountable for customer business outcomes, delivery quality and commercial performance
- Working with sales and solution architects before signature to shape scope, define measurable outcomes and acceptance criteria, and confirm what we commit to is deliverable
- Negotiating scope, milestones and trade-offs with customer executives, and managing fixed-price engagements through disciplined change control, earned-value tracking and margin protection
- Managing engagement revenue and financial health: forecasting revenue against milestones, maintaining an accurate estimate at completion, driving timely milestone acceptance and billing, and identifying expansion opportunities that grow the customer relationship
- Leading delivery teams that use AI across the lifecycle (requirements, design, code generation, testing and operations), and applying enough technical depth to challenge AI-generated output and make informed trade-offs on security, performance, scalability and cost
- Orchestrating mixed teams of AWS builders, AWS Partner Network partners and customer-selected integrators to a single quality bar, with clear accountability, consistent acceptance criteria and automated quality gates
- Driving customer-side change management and adoption, so the organization realizes the value of what we build
- Reporting progress to senior stakeholders in terms of business value delivered, and acting on leading indicators of risk (velocity, environment stability, partner quality, team health) before they become escalations
- Contributing reusable assets, patterns and AI-enabled delivery practices that make each engagement faster and more repeatable than the last
