As a Development Manager within AWS Infrastructure, you will have the opportunity to help shape and execute on strategies to expand our Data Center portfolio and related infrastructure. The position requires a high degree of technical competence and professionalism. This position is responsible for building strong partnerships with regional teams, internal cross platform functions and business stakeholders to achieve regional strategic goals. This position will be required to step into several development projects at varying stages.

This position may require up to 50% travel.

Key job responsibilities

- Partner with Acquisition lead on deal engagement, negotiation and closing.

- Build and lead teams of vendors, consultants, and contractors.

- Assist Acquisition lead in evaluating land and building/land acquisitions

- Assist in project entitlement process from acquisition through project permitting

- Coordinate, compile and update current AWS design Specifications on a regular interval

- Assist in developing site plans that deliver the best in class product consistent with the market demands while achieving the investment assumptions approved by the underwriting process

- Assist in Build to Suit or Leasing RFP’s by establishing site plans and floor plans, proposed specifications, construction budgets, and schedules.

- Supervise development partners in all aspects of site development and shell construction.

- Establish regularly scheduled development meetings to communicate the company’s expectations and oversee the timely completion of milestones set forth in the each of the contemplated developments.

- Conduct on-site progress & quality inspections

- Lead Developer through Project Closeout

- Provide Project Management updates on active projects as requested.

- Understand lease and work letter requirements.

- Understand & convey the inherent risks associated with a particular project.

- Carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production.

Qualifications

- 6+ years experience working in the field of Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management OR a degree in Engineering, Architecture or Real Estate Development with 4+ concurrent years’ experience working on construction projects.

- 5+ years experience managing projects concurrently across disparate geographies

- 5+ years experience managing schedule and cost in multi-project construction programs

- Capable of reading and interpreting construction drawings for all disciplines (electrical, structural, mechanical, etc.)



Extended Qualifications

- Experience on Design/Build projects

- Project Management, Contract Administration or equivalent certification

- Previous large scale Data Center experience

- Ability to evaluate the feasibility of new technologies and determine construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
