Development Operations Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead the reliability, maintenance, and operational support of advanced satellite testing infrastructure. This role ensures maximum uptime and performance of mission-critical development test systems, including thermal vacuum chambers, environmental test equipment, and specialized aerospace testing platforms.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership in facility and equipment management, driving operational excellence in a high-stakes, engineering-driven environment. As part of the Development Operations (DevOps) organization, this leader will oversee facility modifications, infrastructure support, and custom equipment maintenance essential for flexible, scalable lab environments.

Key job responsibilities

- Works very closely and alongside the Development Operations Facilities Manager

- Supervises a team responsible for lab infrastructure support, utility operations, and maintenance of development equipment.

- Supervise and oversee infrastructure upgrades and utility drops (electrical, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, LN2) to support new laboratories, test equipment, and facility expansions.

- Supervise the maintenance, servicing, and modification of specialized, in-house-designed test equipment and tooling in collaboration with Design and Lab Engineers.

- Develop, supervise, and oversee preventative maintenance schedules and service plans for facility utilities and specialized test hardware.

- Establish and maintain a critical-spares program to ensure maximum uptime and rapid recovery of essential equipment and infrastructure.

- Supervise and monitor approved Operational and Capital Expense (OpEx/CapEx) budgets aligned with the organization’s strategic roadmap.

- Partner with engineering and operations teams to define, document, and deliver infrastructure requirements for new projects, labs, and equipment installations.

- Maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation, including maps, risk tracking systems, and contingency plans for all Development Operations–controlled areas.

- Supervise and oversee vendor activities, ensuring quality, compliance with standards, and minimal disruption to development schedules.

- Drive continuous improvement in lab operations, utility systems, and equipment servicing processes to support rapid development and testing needs



Qualifications

- Experience in people management and team development

- Experience in engineering work, managing large-scale services



Extended Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

- Experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports

- Experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
