Description
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Join the Project Kuiper DevOps team as an Aerospace Harnessing technician to support the fabrication, integration, and testing of electrical harnesses for spacecraft and aerospace systems. This role involves working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure harness assemblies meet stringent aerospace standards for performance, reliability, and safety. You’ll work in partnership with Lab Engineers to execute clearly defined tasks, contribute to lab upkeep and identify opportunities to improve process safety and efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings to assemble harnesses accurately.
• Fabricate harnesses using crimping, soldering, lacing, shielding, and connector assembly techniques per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and aerospace standards.
• Perform electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, and hipot testing, and accurately document results.
• Inspect harnesses for workmanship quality and compliance with specifications.
• Maintain build records, travelers, and inspection logs in accordance with company and industry requirements.
• Apply knowledge of industry and internal standards to identify missing or ambiguous information in work instruction or designs; proactively communicate gaps to engineers or lab leadership and provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures during development
• Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
• Follow ESD, FOD, and cleanroom protocols as required.
• Operate and maintain harness fabrication tools, test equipment, and measuring devices.
• Support lab organization, tool tracking, material staging, and cleanliness efforts (6S)
• Escalate work blocker and collaborate to develop workarounds under ambiguous situations
• Engage in continuous learning and support new procedure development with Lab Engineers/lab Management
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or trade certification preferred.• 3+ years of hands-on experience building and testing aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability harnesses.
• Proficiency with crimping tools, soldering equipment, heat-shrink applications, and harness lacing/taping.
• Experience with hipot testers, milliohm meters, and other harness test equipment.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and MIL-SPEC harness requirements.
• Ability to work from complex drawings with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
Extended Qualifications
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (or equivalent).• Experience in satellite or spacecraft harness assembly.
• Knowledge of ESD and FOD prevention best practices.
• Ability to work in cleanroom environments and follow contamination control protocols.
• Experience contribution to process documentation or test procedure development in a hands-on engineering support environment
• Ability to work with ambiguous or evolving procedures in a fast pace collaborative development setting
• Certifications such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, or equivalent are a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $73,840/year in our lowest geographic market up to $80,080/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
