Description
AWS Databases, Analytics and AI/ML Products and Services is one of the largest and fast growing business unit within AWS. DBS BI team revolutionizes data engineering and business intelligence practices within the overall AWS Analytic Engineering organization to support fast growing business needs. We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to help us build and manage next generation Big Data Eco system supporting internal business needs.As a Data Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of data engineers and business intelligence engineers. You will provide technical leadership, drive data engineering initiatives and build end-to-end data solutions that are highly available, scalable, stable, secure, and cost-effective. You strive for simplicity, demonstrate creativity with sound judgement. You deliver data solutions that are customer focused, easy to consume and create business impact. You are passionate about working with huge datasets and have experience with the organization and curation of data for analytics. You have a strategic and long term view on architecture of advanced data eco systems. You are experienced in building efficient and scalable data services and have the ability to integrate data systems with AWS tools and services to support a variety of customer use cases/applications.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will [1] Lead a team of Data Engineers to deliver cross-functional, data engineering projects for Databases, Analytics and AI/ML services, [2] Establish and clearly communicate organizational vision, goals and success measures, [3] Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop roadmap and product requirements, [4] Build, Own, Prioritize, Lead and Deliver a roadmap of large and complex multi-functional projects and programs, [5] Manage data infrastructure, [6] Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources, [7] Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Data Engineering Manager role- Experience managing a data or BI team
- Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience leading and influencing the data strategy of your team or organization
- Experience with Native AWS big data/analytics stack
Extended Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR- Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, QuickSight, Glue, S3, EC2)
- Experience of programming using Python, SQL etc

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $153,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $264,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
