Description

Amazon is looking for a motivated Data Engineer with strong database, analytical skills and big data technology experience to join the Amazon’s Stores advertising business, a high-growth Advertising business with a range of product offerings for advertisers.

As a key data solution provider, you will be partnering with Finance and Business leaders to design, build, expand and optimize data solutions. You will be working with massive amount of data, and your big data solutions will be supporting our rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data.

Finally yet importantly, you should have excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication to different groups of stakeholders, collaborating with BI engineers, data scientists, product managers, program managers, and leadership to evaluate business needs and objectives in order to set up the best data management environment.

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement and build an analytical data infrastructure

- Managing AWS resources including EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, etc.

- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources

- Explore, learn and adopt the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency

- Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

- Work with stakeholders to understand the business questions and define requirements and build out data solutions

- Support continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers

About the team

The APM Advertising Finance team supports various publishers, including Stores, Amazon Business, Books, Grocery/Physical Store, Devices, Video, Audio. Our focus is to accelerate top-line revenue and improve profitability by evaluating overall ad supply monetization and utilization, product feature or sales package adoption, campaign performance, and other various product drivers of growth.



Qualifications

- 3+ years of data engineering experience

- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

- Experience in SQL



Extended Qualifications

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

- Experience working on and delivering end to end projects independently

- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

- Knowledge of systems engineering to optimize integration of data service/software solutions with data infrastructure

- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

- Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy

- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
