• Consumer Technology: Build new generation features and products for amazon.com, constantly im-proving the Customer and Seller experience for billions around the globe. • Operations Technology: Shape the future of transportation planning and execution on a global scale, that impacts hundreds of fulfillment centers, thousands of Amazonians, and millions of customers across the world. Your technology will support thousands of operators worldwide to design, build and run the best-in-class Amazon transportation network. Key job responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy for the team

• Lead complex technical initiatives within the team

• Explore technical needs and bring solutions to the table

• Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.

• Assist in developing project plans and commitments, and then deliver consistently against those com-mitments.

• Build good working relationships within the team by communicating clearly both verbally and in writ-ing

• Continuously optimize solutions to improve overall Platform performance, availability and fault toler-ance

• Drive Operational excellence through metrics driven approach

• Understand customer pain points, build solutions to make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable by applications and teams

• Mentor and lead developers by cultivating curiosity, deep technical understanding through collabora-tion, code reviews, and leading by example.



Qualifications

- 5+ years of data engineering experience

- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

- Experience with SQL

- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

- Experience mentoring team members on best practices



Extended Qualifications

- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

- Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
