We are looking for a talented attorney with a passion for legal operations, eDiscovery, and outside counsel management to help create innovative approaches to optimizing the delivery of legal services. Our work is intellectually challenging, exciting and fast-paced. This role will be focused on developing innovative solutions to handle a large and growing global portfolio of litigation and regulatory matters, drive increasing efficiency and value from our outside legal spend, and identify core services to increase the efficiency of the Legal department. We are looking for a multi-disciplinary lawyer to support our eDiscovery initiatives, including managing our eDiscovery vendors, working with internal engineering teams to build tools and processes to more efficiently handle eDiscovery, and serving as a strategic advisor to our paralegals and attorneys on eDiscovery projects. This role also will play a key role in working with our Outside Counsel Management Team to generate more value from our outside legal providers, including alternative legal services companies. Finally, the role will drive initiatives working with LegalTech to Think Big about the ways technology, automation, and generative AI solutions can be effectively incorporated into the practice of law to reduce the cost of delivering legal services and improve outcomes. You will be part of a broader team that includes Litigation and Regulatory Operations, Legal Business Operations, and Outside Counsel Management team.

This position requires great judgment and common sense, the ability to find pragmatic solutions in an ambiguous environment, a passion for operations and streamlining processes, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

We are looking for candidates who are innovative, progressive, extremely hands-on, and customer-obsessed with a strong understanding of the legal industry and litigation processes.

This position reports to the Associate General Counsel, Litigation and Regulatory Operations.

- Providing legal advice, operational support, training, and strategy guidance for our eDiscovery function.

- Working with legal professionals, lawyers, vendors, and tech teams to optimize our delivering of legal work to ensure we are deriving the highest value from our limited resources for the benefit of Amazon.



Qualifications

- 5+ years of legal experience

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent



Extended Qualifications

- Experience with in-house work at a technology or internet company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
