Description
Amazon's Worldwide Grocery & Development, Physical Retail division is seeking a Construction Manager to manage various retail construction and renovation/remodel projects across the country. This is an entrepreneurial, high-impact role within a fast-moving, growing business team that requires dedication, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to deliver high-quality work at scale.You will serve as an integral part of the team working cross-functionally between Store Design, Store Operations, Facilities, Technology, Security, Loss Prevention, and Amazon vendors. Key job responsibilities
Project & Program Delivery:
- Manage multiple construction and renovation projects simultaneously, effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
- Establish and maintain project schedules and budgets; responsible for overall project delivery including all FF&E and construction.
- Deliver projects on time and on budget across a geographically distributed national portfolio.
- Manage high-volume project portfolios (200+ projects simultaneously) with quick response to emerging priorities, maintaining on-time delivery across all active workstreams.
- Autonomously drive large-scale, multi-site program from initiation through closeout with minimal oversight, balancing competing priorities across a national portfolio.
Capital & Life Cycle Planning:
- Develop and execute capital planning strategies and life cycle replacement schedules for critical building equipment (HVAC, refrigeration, controls, lighting, fire/life safety systems) to maximize asset performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Partner with Critical Infrastructure and Facilities teams to align capital investment with equipment condition assessments, R&M spend reduction targets, and long-term asset preservation goals.
- Lead proactive capital investment strategies to reduce Repair & Maintenance expenditures and extend the operational life of critical systems.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Leverage project data, cost analytics, and performance metrics to inform decision-making, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement across the program.
- Work with financial and operational data to drive high-volume program autonomously, surfacing insights to leadership and adjusting priorities in real time.
- Participate in the design development process to collaborate and value-engineer construction methods to reduce time and cost.
Site Management & Compliance:
- Provide on-site supervision during the construction process, including management of General Contractors and Owner vendors.
- Manage change order negotiations and contract compliance, adhering to AIA contract documentation processes.
- Ensure contractor compliance with life safety/OSHA requirements on all job sites to minimize risk.
- Serve as the liaison to developer/landlord representatives to coordinate building envelope delivery.
- Establish effective relationships and an understanding of municipalities and permit processes.
- Lead job site meetings, produce minutes, and strive for a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making, or experience in relevant finance roles
- 4+ years of project management, real estate development, or architecture/design experience
- Experience managing high-volume construction or facilities programs (100+ concurrent projects)
Extended Qualifications
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)- Experience in ownership of projects and communicating timelines and executing independently
- Experience in Grocery or C-Store construction.
- Experience in capital planning, life cycle cost analysis, or critical equipment replacement program.
- Experience reducing R&M expenditures through proactive capital investment strategies.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
