Description

As a Component Engineer at Project Kuiper, you will be responsible for supporting the Component Engineering team by managing Kuiper’s approved component library and developing component engineering processes and mechanisms. You will work with Senior Component Engineers to solve technical problems involving electrical component research, component qualification, and component obsolescence. Your role will play a critical part in the success of current and next generation Kuiper satellites.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

This position spans a breadth and depth of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Providing technical guidance and support to engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing as a subject matter expert

• Creating / reviewing / improving / maintaining our Component Engineering methods, processes and procedures

• Reviewing electrical component requests to ensure they meet requirements; supporting electrical component lifecycle management

• Researching alternative components to continually improve satellite designs

• Conducting and reviewing component research on equivalent components to expand our component library

• Performing BOM scrubs and reviewing electrical hardware schematics and layout

• Managing component failure analysis and corrective actions with suppliers.



Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

- 3+ years working as a Component Engineer in space, aerospace, or other high-tech industry

- Experience working with and maintaining an eCAD library

- Experience creating qualification plans and supporting obsolescence analyses for electronic components

- Experience with Product Lifetime Management (PLM) tools. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills



Extended Qualifications

- 5+ years working as a Component Engineer in space, aerospace, or other high-tech industry

- Experience coordinating workstreams amongst multiple teams such a reliability, quality, and engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
