Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Kuiper Security team owns the operational security of the constellation end-to-end. We provide the necessary infrastructure to establish secure communications and strong authentication, enabling the confidentiality for our customers and security for our constellation.

This team drives the research & development, deployment and operation of several mission-critical security systems for the Kuiper constellation end-to-end. You will work in a start-up like culture to bootstrap software systems focused on security, and help instill the security culture in the organization.

We are looking to hire a Senior Industry Specialist that has experience in designing and operating Public Key Infrastructure and Code Signing environments. You will have ownership and accountability of PKI and code signing programs from start to finish, aimed at improving the security and controls for our service. The successful candidate is comfortable interacting with both technology and business leaders across the organization at all levels. You will work with a diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering team to determine the requirements and set the bar for our security best practices and secrets management.

Key job responsibilities

- Work with our peer teams and customers to design and support PKI systems that meet the mission criteria and requirements

- Translate business compliance requirements into useable and scalable engineering and operational actions. Create documentation, compliance reports and articles to enable customer and auditor inquiries.

- Manage key generation ceremonies

- Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a security organization in Project Kuiper

- Clearly communicate vision, deliverables, and project status to management and key technical and business stakeholders

- Help on-board and mentor new team members

- Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-available software services

Kuiper Trust Services owns the creation and operation of services to protect customer data and Kuiper devices. Candidates for this role should have an interest in any of the following: AWS Services, PKI (public key infrastructure), HSMs (Hardware Security Modules), Firmware Signing, Secure Boot, Encryption, Cryptography, Key Management, and Secure Device Provisioning.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

• 5+ years of experience with any combination of the following: identity management and authentication, security or compliance program manager, software development, cryptography, PKI, code signing, system administration and network security

• 5+ years experience with WebTrust for Certification Authorities



Extended Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, PKI, code signing, cryptography, or application security

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of audiences

• Strong and creative problem solving abilities

• Distributed systems experience

• Experience with large scale systems

• Knowledge and experience with Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs), Hardware Security Modules, or other cryptographic hardware

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
