Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.The Kuiper team is looking for a Category Sourcing Manager (Semiconductors) to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, and others as needed to execute on Kuiper objectives. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing and executing strategy, negotiating master agreements and statements of work, and managing supplier performance.
Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.
Key job responsibilities
• Use industry and relevant data analysis, create and execute strategic sourcing plans for a technology, business unit, department, or project to help internal customers meet their goals
• Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others
• Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and industry developments that benefit Amazon’s customers
• Influence suppliers' processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
• Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable on-time delivery
• Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
• Drive financial modeling of large and complex deals
• Evaluate and monitor financial health of critical suppliers
• Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field or equivalent experience• 5+ years of relevant experience in the industry and/or academia.
• 5+ years of experience in sourcing or related disciplines specific to Electrical and Semiconductor components with EMS/JDM in high technology industry and managing suppliers
• 5+ years of direct experience in procurement (including purchase order placements), supplier and commodity management, contract negotiations, category sourcing or related supply chain experience
Extended Qualifications
• Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills• Master’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related field and 7+ years experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, and operations
• Technical acumen in foundry and semiconductor components, design/development/deployment lifecycle with ability to connect to related business matters such as cost, manufacturing cycle time and yields
• Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost models, negotiate MVA, NRE, and CAPEX/OPEX to ensure best-in-class cost for our products
• Experience in bill of materials configuration management, semiconductor, and final assembly
• High attention to details and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
• Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems
• Experience leading agreement/contract negotiations for complex, mission critical technology supplier deals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $153,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
