If yes, you will want to be part of Amazon’s Grocery Business in the WW Retail, Growth and Development team (WWRGD)

WWRGD is accountable for Real Estate search, PreCon, Design, Standards, Construction, and Launch of all grocery building types. This Category Manager role is part of the Strategic Sourcing team that owns standardization through to contracts management for the full range of equipment required to operate back and front of house operations in our retail and industrial grocery buildings.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the Day 1 and Owner mentality. To be successful you will need to be agile, exceptionally motivated and a talented Senior Category Manager. This role is responsible for a range of food service category to expand the selection we currently offer in our stores and continue to delight our customers. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, where you will act as the primary owner of your categories, devising the business model and collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders from multiple functions, including Culinary Team, Store Design, Ingredient Vendors, Equipment Vendors, and Store Operations.

The right candidate needs to: i) be able to work in an ambiguous environment and deliver results within tight timeline, ii) excel in stakeholder management, earning trust and influencing without formal authority, iii) demonstrate strong business acumen, making critical decisions regarding CapEx investment, category topline and profitability, and vendor negotiations, iv) be fast and flexible when receiving inputs, clear and organized when delivering outputs, and last but not least v) passionate about the food service sector and food service CX.

Expect approximately 20% travel in this role.

Key job responsibilities

• Own P&L for the category and focus on strategy for scalable revenue and margin improvement

• Responsible for setting strategic direction for the category that optimizes for long-term success

• Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities, drive internal initiatives to meet and exceed financial goals

• Initiate, structure, negotiate for partnership with both new and existing merchants. Create business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch, and long-term operations.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external partners, while meeting tight deadlines

• This role will require a willingness to dive into the details, solve new problems as they arise, be comfortable with ambiguity, and look around corners while always obsessing over customers



Qualifications

- 5+ years of with Excel experience

- 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience

- Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience

- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL

- Experience using data to influence business decisions

- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration

- Experience with business analysis and P&L management

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
