Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge, our commitment to reach net-zero carbon across our global operations by 2040. As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon's Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.
The Worldwide Carbon team is looking for a Carbon Inventory Manager to drive continuous improvement of the measurement and validation of carbon (aka greenhouse gas) emissions data. Your work will help Amazon measure its progress against The Climate Pledge and other reporting avenues.
The ideal candidate will be a carbon accounting subject matter expert with experience performing robust internal controls, navigating large datasets, and corralling multiple stakeholder groups around common objectives.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on carbon accounting methodologies, internal controls over sustainability reporting, third-party assurance, and sustainability disclosure requirements
- Develop and implement processes for supplier emissions data collection, ensuring data integrity, ease of reporting for suppliers, and alignment with industry standards to track abatement opportunities and progress
- Contribute to the design and implementation of robust data collection processes, internal controls, and quality assurance procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of sustainability data
- Support the third-party assurance preparation process by engaging data owners, reviewing supporting documentation, and implementing final data validation activities
- Prepare periodic carbon accounting reports, dashboards, and other communications to inform strategic decision-making and drive progress against sustainability goals
- Collaborate with sustainability and corporate communications teams to integrate carbon data into the company's broader sustainability reporting and decision making
- Participate in workshops and working sessions to align the organization on carbon accounting methodologies, emissions reduction targets, and reporting frameworks

Qualifications
- Experience working cross-functionally with a wide breadth of stakeholders, users, engineers, and leaders to generate buy-in- Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in carbon accounting, environmental management, or financial accounting
- Experience with greenhouse gas accounting protocols, standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064)
Extended Qualifications
- Master's degree in sustainability, environmental management, accounting, or a related discipline- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or certification in sustainability accounting/reporting
- Experience supporting external assurance engagements or internal reviews over sustainability metrics
- Knowledge of carbon offset, insets, renewable energy credit markets, and other market-based instruments
- Ability to influence without authority and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
