Description
The Business Operations Specialist serves as a critical individual contributor responsible for managing financial operations, fleet resources, and vendor relationships while supporting broader operational initiatives across the Emergency Services Unit (ESU). This role requires financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority.Key job responsibilities
• Work with leadership to understand, track, and report on budget allocation and utilization
• Monitor and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly spending patterns
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports on expenditures and budget availability
• Collaborate with the broader finance team to ensure alignment with company financial processes
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and spending optimizations
• Support financial planning activities and operational expense forecasting
• Develop and implement fleet management programs and policies
• Oversee all aspects of vehicle operations from acquisition to retirement
• Manage fleet-related expenses, maintenance schedules, and utilization metrics
• Recommend optimizations for fleet efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
• Coordinate vendor quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
• Assist with contract negotiations and statement of work (SOW) development
• Maintain vendor relationships and serve as a key point of contact
• Monitor vendor performance and compliance with agreements
• Facilitate vendor-related communications across departments
• Facilitate monthly business review (MBR) meetings
• Strategic Priorities and Goal Tracking
• Contribute to operational planning inputs
• Coordinate and support leadership meetings
• Serve as a cross-functional liaison between departments

Qualifications
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
- Proven ability to cut through complexity and build practical solutions
- Experience working in small, high-impact teams with broad responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational levels
- Strong problem-solving skills
Extended Qualifications
- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience- Comfort with wearing multiple hats and diving into unfamiliar territories
- Background in creating simple mechanisms that solve complex problems
- Experience with lean, practical approaches to operations management
- Track record of successfully reducing bureaucracy in complex organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
