Within the Sales, Marketing, and Global Services Operations (SMGS Ops) organization, Data Products & Infrastructure (DP&I)’s mission is to accelerate the AWS business by delivering fast, fresh, and fit-for-purpose data and insights to Leadership and to the AWS Field. We do this by: 1/ curating the right data to provide a complete, current, comprehensive and accurate view of our business; 2/ enriching that data with science-based insights to drive the right decisions to optimize our resources and better serve customers and partners; and 3/ building infrastructure and tooling to share and govern that data securely and consistently, at scale.

We’re looking for an experienced and strategic-minded individual who will work closely with DP&I leadership, business and technical teams to manage DP&I business operations. From strategy to execution, this individual will drive and continuously improve the key mechanisms we use to align priorities and deliverables across DP&I and to deliver results for our customers. They will help build and refine the DP&I strategy, align and synchronize goals and roadmaps, identify and track risks, and help the organization prioritize to achieve the most impactful business outcomes for our customers. This is a strategic position and this person’s broad view of the business will be a key input to the direction of the organization.

Key job responsibilities

Business Operations

- Own, document, refine and execute run-the-business mechanisms such as three-year planning (3YP), operational planning (OP1/OP2), goal setting (Goals), including inspection mechanisms such as business reviews and program reviews, both within DP&I and between DP&I and other organizations.

- Manage the strategic planning calendar for DP&I, integrating with broader SMGS Ops, AWS, and Amazon cadences.

- Author business review documents representing the DP&I business to stakeholder organizations.

- Host/Facilitate planning and inspection meetings such as leadership planning offsites, business reviews, and program reviews, ensuring that they produce specific deliverables that drive cross-organizational alignment.

- Working with org leaders and finance, draft OP1/OP2 budgets (including Opex, T&E, and computing fleet costs), and shepherd them through approval.

- Create and manage mechanisms to track headcount allocation and approved/actual spend vs budgets, including internal (to DP&I) approval mechanisms.

Program Management

- Drive cross-org alignment on goals, roadmaps, and dependencies, ensuring that our goals are collectively sufficient to achieve our business objectives, and that dates for DP&I goals are aligned across the SMGS Ops organization.

- Track all-up program progress and work with program and product managers from various DP&I organizations to look around corners, identify and track risks, and track and report overall status against our DP&I goals.

- Drive metrics reporting, ensuring that teams are thoughtfully focused on metrics that measure outcomes vs activities. Identify improvement opportunities for measuring and optimizing the business, and drive continuous improvement efforts.

- Take on special projects as identified by leadership often within a quick turn-around for large stakeholder groups.

They will be able to think strategically, act effectively and display strong analytical skills with a bias toward data-driven decision making. They will be able to communicate priorities and work effectively with multiple stakeholders and senior leadership. They will be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving challenging problems. They will be expected to dive deep into data, and continually invent, simplify and improve inefficient or unnecessarily complex processes. They will have excellent organizational, project management and communication skills. They will demonstrate attention to detail and be able to build strong cross-org working relationships, earning the trust of others.

About Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.



Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree

- 5+ years of industry work experience

- 3+ years of program or project management experience

- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
