Description

Have you ever ordered a product on Amazon and when that box with the smile arrived you wondered how it got to you so fast? Have you wondered where it came from and how much it cost Amazon to deliver it to you? If so, the Amazon Logistics, Last Mile team is for you. We manage the delivery of tens of millions of products every week to Amazon’s customers, achieving on-time delivery in a cost-effective manner.

We are hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer to identify strategic initiatives that will form the next generation of Amazon Logistics. As a Business Intelligence Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. In this role, you will primarily work on designing and building automated reporting and dashboards using complex data. We are still in the nascent stage so it is an exciting opportunity to be involved from design-to-execution. As a BI Engineer, you will operate as a mix of hands-on builder and influencer.

The team’s success depends on our ability to create actionable insight from the data that we and our partners generate. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical abilities, business acumen, high judgment, strong technical skills, and good written and verbal communication skills. This person will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you will have broad skills in data mining, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, while applying analytical rigor to solve business problems.

This role is cross-functional - you will work closely with partners in Product Management, Training and Program Management to design and deliver data needs. You are comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment, and seek data-driven decision-making. You have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work with product managers and business development teams to define key business questions and build data sets and models that answer them.

Key job responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs

- Interface directly with stakeholders, gathering requirements and owning automated end-to-end reporting solutions.

- Partner with analysts, data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and software development engineers across Amazon to produce complete data solutions.

- Simplify and automate reporting, audits, and other data-driven activities; build solutions to have maximum scale and self-service ability by stakeholders

- Proficiency with SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data. Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use.

- Estimate models, write analyses, and extract insights and provide business recommendations.

- 10-20% travel per quarter.
