If so, we want YOU on our team!We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our Integrated, Data Enabled & Analytical Solutions (IDEAS) team as a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE). This opportunity is unique, as the team is inclusive to one of Amazon’s only Benchmarking teams, and supports the growth of Amazon's Transportation network. Transportation Engineering Services (TES) is responsible for delivering capacity to the Amazon Fulfillment network, including planning, configuration management, design, construction, startup, procurement, launch, and operations engineering teams. TES Benchmarking acts as a one-stop-shop for driving strategic improvements in processes, technologies, and analytics across the organization.
As a Senior BIE, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing business intelligence solutions to analyze, dive deep, and innovate for the goal of driving improvements. You will work closely with a variety of SMEs, engineers and analysts to solve challenging problems. You need be comfortable using intellect, curiosity and technical ability to develop innovative solutions to business problems.
The ideal candidate relishes working with large volumes of data, enjoys the challenge of highly complex technical contexts, and, above all else, is passionate about data and analytics. He/she is an expert with data modeling, ETL design and business intelligence tools and passionately partners with the business to identify strategic opportunities where improvements in data infrastructure creates out-sized business impact. He/she is a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced team.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive the design, development, and maintenance of innovative and scalable intelligence solutions across the organization, with the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity.
- Translate ambiguous business problem statements into actionable analytical solutions
- Perform deep-dives and root cause analysis to answer questions
- Apply expertise in data mining and modeling leveraging multiple data sources to uncover unique insights, identify key performance drivers, and build predictive models
- Work backwards from your end-customer to define, design, and execute each work item with an emphasis on improved metrics, productivity, and efficiency
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Ensure clear communication and coordination across the business, finance and technical teams.
- Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations as well as analytic inter-dependencies to build efficient solutions.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Extended Qualifications
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
