Estimated salary: $176,700

Description

The AWS Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) program manages strategic innovation partnerships between AWS and higher education institutions. We leverage the power of student interns to build prototypes and proofs of concept that help public sector organizations adopt new technology solutions, then open-source and publish the results to ensure other customers can also benefit from our work. We also organize peer-to-peer learning events that accelerate higher education and research customers along their cloud adoption journey.

The Sr. Business Development Manager, Cloud Innovation Centers is the newest role in a “two-pizza team” that has ambitious plans to drive scalable impact in 2025 and beyond. The person filling this role will serve as the single-threaded leader responsible for launching a series of new, executive-focused innovation events that bring multiple higher education and research experts together for bespoke, peer-to-peer learning experiences that increase executive understanding of the cloud and uncover the top priorities for participants seeking to leverage AWS to advance their missions. They will also play a key role in driving the program’s growth strategy by identifying, socializing, structuring, and implementing new strategic innovation partnerships between AWS and higher education institutions.

This work is part of a flywheel that will enable more student developers to build more solutions that are adopted by more public sector organizations. This is a highly entrepreneurial role that requires the ability to navigate significant ambiguity, manage sensitive customer and executive relationships, and identify smart and strategic investments that will deliver significant returns for all – the students, the universities, the public sector, and AWS.

Candidates should have the ability to travel up to 25% throughout the US, with the potential for some global travel.

Key job responsibilities

• Envision, build, and launch scalable engagement models that increase the reach and impact of the Cloud Innovation Centers program, with the goal of expanding the number of CIC-supported student developers who are building (and open sourcing) technical prototypes for public sector end customers.

• Launch and streamline operations for a new series of research-focused Executive Innovation Visits, including by identifying the research institutions that are ideal to serve as participants and hosts

• Own and/or oversee all aspects of execution, in partnership with relevant sales teams and business development managers (i.e. develop agendas, align speakers, coordinate logistics, etc.).

• Track, monitor, and report on program outcomes against established goal targets.

• Additional duties as assigned, including the potential to drive go-to-market activities that drive widespread adoption of the team’s increasing volume of open-source, highly scalable solutions.

About the team

The Worldwide Public Sector Cloud Innovation Centers team is a highly collaborative, global program that helps governments, nonprofits, higher education, and other public sector organizations innovate using cloud technology. We leverage the power of public-private partnerships, student interns, and peer-to-peer learning experiences to co-innovate alongside our customers.
