Description
Amazon is seeking an exemplary Senior Business Analyst with broad technical skills to develop data visualizations and build automation solutions that drive business decision making and process improvement on the Talent Research & Development team. Success in this role requires extensive collaboration with Business Intelligence Engineers and analytics teams to develop and optimize solutions, while maintaining strong business acumen to effectively present and explain technical solutions to stakeholders. The ideal candidate must be able to translate business requirements into technical specifications and adapt implementations based on evolving business needs and customer feedback. The ideal candidate will draw upon advanced analytical, problem solving skills, and passion for delivering business insights and analytics to enhance talent intelligence products. We look for candidates who are excellent communicators, self-motivated, flexible, hardworking, and who like to have fun.The complexity of research and skills for a Business Analyst is well beyond basic data entry and extraction. It involves design and development of automated data pipelines, sophisticated analytical modeling and intuitive data visualization. Proficiency in Python, SQL, HTML, Java/R languages is not required, but an ability to be a quick learner and leverage automation where it makes sense is required for a successfully candidate. This role will have high level visibility due to the nature of the toolsets being maintained, built, and the organizational impact of analysis conducted.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide data management processes such as accessing raw data feeds, building queries and macros, writing VBA code, organizing data and designing dashboards that present & benchmark related datasets to a wide variety of talent stakeholders.
- Working closely with BIEs to validate and optimize SQL queries for new or existing data warehouse implementations, ensuring proper data mapping and minimizing database load while maintaining data accuracy - particularly crucial when integrating multiple HR data sources into centralized reporting solutions.
- Retrieving and analyzing large sets of data using Excel, SQL, and other data management systems.
- Designing and implementing reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
- Own the Quicksight dashboard product end to end including roadmap, strategic planning, and monthly/ad hoc reporting.
- Building and managing related key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure, control, and benchmark reporting processes.
- Monitoring existent metrics, building new metrics, and partnering with internal teams to identify process and system improvement opportunities.
- Supporting cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of the existent program implementation.
- Innovating to improve customer experience
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables) experience- 3+ years of writing SQL queries and creating business intelligence reports using Tableau, Power BI experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Experience building and maintaining automated forecasting models, utilizing regression or statistical methodologies
Extended Qualifications
- MBA- Experience in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Consulting
- Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling
- Fluency in a modeling language such as Python or R
- Experience with one or more of the statistical modeling languages/toolboxes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
