We are looking for a leader to build and manage the growing analytics team within Amazon Freight. As the single threaded data analytics owner in our domain, you will work closely with a broad set of stakeholders to discover and implement impactful analytical initiatives. You will have an opportunity to participate and innovate across the engineering landscape, starting from ingestion, storage, processing and reporting. You will be the manager of managers, leading a team of Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts and Data Engineers to develop new analytical and reporting platforms. You will participate in business reviews and brainstorming of new-initiatives. You will help identify and close gaps in the information available, as well as predict up-and-coming -needs when participating in discussions about new products or features.

To succeed in this role, you must thrive in ambiguity, enjoy cross-functional collaboration, be excited about generating actionable insights and developing strategic analyses. You should be eager to learn about and to build new products using the latest business intelligence and generative AI technology, and have strong communication skills. You should be capable of participating in and understanding how multiple systems communicate information to one-another. You should be highly organized, and capable of prioritizing multiple deliverables and effectively communicate progress and blockers.

Key job responsibilities

Hire, manage, develop and coach a team of BAs, BIEs, and DEs.

• Engage with leadership and diversified customer groups to understand the needs and recommend business intelligence solutions.

• Bring strong leadership, vision and passion to build and drive an Analytics team to create changes in business partnerships, analytics, and metrics/reporting.

• Create program goals and related metrics, track progress, and manage through obstacles to help team achieve objectives

• Drive the design, development and implementation of our analytics to provide stakeholders with structured access to data.

• Champion proper adoption of self-service analytic tools and reporting environments.

• Identify opportunities for improvement or automation in the existing data processes and lead the changes using your business acumen and data handling skills.

• Lead the innovative initiatives in our Analytics domain including usage of AI and LLM in Analytics



Qualifications

- Knowledge of SQL and Excel

- Experience hiring and leading a high-performance team

- Knowledge of data engineering pipelines, cloud solutions, ETL management, databases, visualizations and analytical platforms

- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative area such as math, statistics, computer science, engineering or equivalent experience

- 10+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, market research or related field

- 10+ years experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

- Experience managing and hiring a team of data engineers, business intelligence engineers, business analysts

- Proficient in working with large-scale, complex datasets from multiple sources.

- People management experience, managing data engineers and business intelligence engineers.



Extended Qualifications

- Experience in designing and delivering cross functional custom reporting solutions.

- Advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Amazon Quick Sight, Tableau, or similar BI tools.

- Experienced in ETL, data modeling and big data tools.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- - Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $153,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $265,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
