System Development Engineer and help shape the future of automated fulfillment!

As a System Development Engineer on the Central RME ATP Team, you will be at the forefront of developing and supporting software systems that drive the maintenance, reliability, and operations of Amazon's global fleet of robotics. You'll be the primary point of contact for internal customers and partners, bridging the gap between field operations and engineering teams.

In this dynamic role, you'll create innovative solutions to improve robot availability, performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness across our vast network. You'll dive deep into data from various sources, including databases, PLCs, sensors, and maintenance records to identify improvement opportunities and drive data-informed decision-making.

Your work will directly impact hundreds of thousands of robotic assets across Amazon's global network, ensuring optimal performance and availability. You'll balance business needs with technical constraints, striving to find the right solutions while maintaining a strong focus on standards, scalability, and supportability. Amazon’s global network. Key job responsibilities

Develop cloud-based data tools, analytics, and reporting systems to optimize robotics operations

• Create and deploy proof-of-concept and minimum viable products for field testing

• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and AWS CDK

• Implement proactive issue detection, monitoring, and reporting systems

• Leverage automation, ML, and AI to drive insights and scale team efficiency

• Document system designs, runbooks, and internal processes

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve robotics maintenance and reliability

• Analyze large-scale data from various sources to identify improvement opportunities

• Participate in failure analysis and incident review processes

• Engage customers to understand and document business requirements

• Drive problems to root cause and manage implementation programs for corrective actions

• Recommend alternative technical approaches and direct cross-functional efforts to meet timelines

Qualifications

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline

- Experience with automating and simplifying team development, test, and operations processes



Extended Qualifications

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

- • Experience leveraging generative AI in software development

- • Familiarity with AWS services, SDK, and CDK

- • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

- • Knowledge of design patterns, reliability, and scaling techniques

- • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis using Python or R

- • Experience with machine learning and AI technologies

- • Background in robotics, automation, or large-scale distributed systems

- • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

- • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- • Understanding of industrial automation, including robotics system components/controls, HMI components, and motion control

- • Experience with databases, data pipelines, and integration of disparate data platforms/systems

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
