Description
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support our governance and strategy related to artificial intelligence. The role will primarily support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing service industry, providing IT infrastructure services, such as on-demand compute, storage, database, network and content delivery, artificial intelligence, mobile, internet of things services, and more.You'll be an integral part of the AWS AI and compute service teams, giving legal input on their business and strategy, in addition to providing counsel on a range of regulatory issues. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. Finally, you’ll get to work with engineers and service teams across AWS, learning about the services we build and customers we support, with great visibility across the company and senior leaders.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies;
- Advising on regulatory issues (including privacy-related issues);
- Overseeing compliance, negotiating strategic technology agreements and providing input on business strategy;
- Developing strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways; and
- Helping build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of legal experience- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Extended Qualifications
- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent- Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
