Description
Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s fastest growing technology companies. To learn more about AWS, visit https://aws.amazon.com.This role will provide a blend of transactional support to teams dedicated to engineering, supply chain, and procurement teams, and product counseling for AWS’s portfolio of cloud products and services designed for customers with specialized security and connectivity needs. On the transactional side, you will structure, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of deal types, including hardware development agreements; technology licensing; supply, procurement, and manufacturing agreements; and professional, operations, and support services agreements. On the product counseling side, you will work closely with internal business clients to advise on complex legal issues, support new product and feature launches, provide subject matter expertise on regulatory and compliance matters, and advise on strategic matters related to hardware, technology, and facilities used to support specialized security solutions.
You will work directly with a wide array of teams across AWS to understand and anticipate key risks, develop mitigation strategies, and help chart long-term strategy. You will also develop and deliver trainings, business-facing resources, and internal policies that enable teams to seamlessly build, launch, and deliver for our customers. We expect this role to own and deliver diverse and complex transactions and projects simultaneously. Successful candidates will possess a clear and concise communication style, demonstrate strong organizational skills, and effectively collaborate across multiple internal teams. They must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial and technology-related agreements, including development, supply, manufacturing services, software licensing, services, and other bespoke agreements.
- Providing business-line counseling to infrastructure engineering and supply chain teams team to enable the development, manufacture, deployment, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure technology globally for our customers.
- Advising AWS product teams on legal risks associated with new product and feature launches, and developing strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways.
- Supporting and directly advising business partners on legal, commercial, operational, and other risks.
- Developing, advising on, and implementing with the business vendor engagement, contractual, and negotiation strategies.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to identify and resolve commercial, operational, compliance, regulatory, security, safety, legal, and customer/vendor issues.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of legal experience- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in transactional work, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts or equivalent
Extended Qualifications
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent- Knowledge of IT/technology transactions or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
