Description

Join Amazon Global Mile Tech as an Applied Scientist II to revolutionize international package delivery through innovative technology solutions. You'll be part of a team developing comprehensive products that enable end-to-end transportation across a global network. Your work will directly impact millions of international shipments while tackling complex optimization challenges in customs, logistics, and supply chain operations.

Key job responsibilities

- Design and develop deep learning/Gen AI applications for product classification using agentic and custom fine-tuned modeling approaches

- Lead modeling and technical design initiatives for complex transportation problems using ML/Deep Learning models

- Partner with engineering and operations teams to implement scalable solutions

- Conduct complex modeling analyses to inform management decisions and policy development

- Create technical strategies and applied science roadmaps aligned with business requirements

- Collaborate with global internal and external partners to optimize international transportation networks

A day in the life

Your typical day involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement Gen AI/ML applications in customs and global logistics. You'll analyze complex datasets, develop new GenAI fine-tuned models, and meet with stakeholders to understand business requirements. Working closely with engineering partners, you'll iterate on solutions that directly impact Amazon's international shipping capabilities. The role offers opportunities to build domain expertise in international transportation while working with cutting-edge technology.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of building models for business application experience

- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience

- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

- Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing



Extended Qualifications

- Experience using Unix/Linux

- Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
