Description
Amazon is building a world class advertising business and defining and delivering a collection of self-service performance advertising products that drive discovery and sales of merchandise. Our products are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace businesses, driving long-term growth. Sponsored Products (SP) helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners grows incremental sales of their products sold on Amazon through native advertising. SP achieves this by using a combination of machine learning, big data analytics, ultra-low latency high-volume engineering systems, and quantitative product focus. We are a highly motivated, collaborative and fun-loving group with an entrepreneurial spirit and bias for action.The Sr Manager, Global Growth is responsible for charting the vision, strategy and roadmap driving growth of Sponsored Products and Brands business in Global Marketplaces, working backward from shopper and advertiser wants, gaps and opportunities. This leader should have the science and technical depth to innovate new approaches within the ad workflow to improve ad utilization in global marketplaces, and the business acumen to map customer use-cases back to new features and initiatives. This role will directly manage a team of applied and data scientists, engineers and product managers, but also manage the roadmap of WW-focused teams. They will own and drive goals via experiments executed by engineers and scientists within their team and across WW-focused teams in the organization. Additionally, to perform effectively in this role, they will also need to closely partner and influence roadmap of WW-focused biz-ops, GTM, Sales, Finance and Stores product and tech teams.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of senior Applied and Data scientists, engineers and product managers responsible for operating large-scale ad recommendation systems for global marketplaces.
* Hire and develop engineering, data science and product manager talent to execute on growth initiatives in Emerging Marketplaces.
* Develop roadmap and influence WW-focused teams to align product, country, and regional level goals, across revenue, gap resolution, and feature parity.
* Define a long-term vision and strategy for monetization targets at a marketplace level. Build working backwards plans to achieve goals over ~three year time horizon.
* Work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences
* Work with business leaders from product groups to analyze market data to identify trends/opportunities, utilize network of relationships with the relevant industry to gather market intelligence, and ensure solutions include plans for metrics analysis, technical specifications, development, testing, and launch efforts.
Qualifications
- Masters or PHD in Computer Science or a related field.- 8+ years experience in machine learning, AI, or a related field.
- 5+ years of leading and managing science teams that deliver large impact.
Extended Qualifications
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and owning business outcomes.- Expert knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $196,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $340,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
