We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Do you have a passion for GenAI, cybersecurity, and detection engineering?! If so, join us to lead a team building innovative services that protect our cloud from advanced security threats!

You’ll lead a team that uses GenAI (and other AI/ML techniques) to build and manage services that detect and automate the mitigation of cybersecurity threats across Amazon’s infrastructure, including advanced persistent threats. You’ll manage a mixed-discipline team of data and applied scientists, software development engineers, and security engineers to develop these innovative security solutions at a massive scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and help preserve our customers’ trust in us. You’ll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect every single AWS customer, both internally and externally, from security threats – not many teams can say that!

A successful candidate is one who is passionate about utilizing big data and GenAI to solve real business problems. This role will offer you the opportunity to lead architectural and technical innovation and drive the future direction of detection engineering. Key job responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end applied science projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale, and complexity

- Provide technical and science leadership related to using GenAI to enable advanced threat detection and mitigation

- Research and drive new and innovative AI/ML approaches

- Enforce a high bar for operational excellence of the team's services

- Recruit high performing team members, and provide them mentorship and coaching

- Establish team mechanisms, including for team building, project planning, and product development

Qualifications

- 2+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience

- Experience building scalable systems that involve predictive models or other applications of machine learning

- PhD, or Master's degree and 5+ years of experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications



Extended Qualifications

- Experience working with GenAI in enterprise environments

- Experience building complex software systems, especially those involving machine learning, that have been successfully delivered to customers

- Knowledge of using machine learning, big data, and/or other software solutions to address security threats and vulnerabilities

- Understanding of security engineering and/or host and network telemetry data (e.g., process lists, application logs, NetFlow)

- Experience partnering with product and/or program management teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
