This Aircraft Maintenance & Conversion Manager position will be part of the Fleet, Aviation Sourcing & Technical (FAST) group which is an organization responsible for all areas of strategic procurement and aircraft technical operations across the entire Global Amazon Air organization.

The responsibilities include but not limited to leading the technical aspect of the fleet integration such as aircraft inspection, technical acceptance, aircraft passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion, aircraft maintenance work scope development, aircraft maintenance technical support, supplier program management, and etc. in collaboration with cross-functional leaders within multiple Amazon teams and external suppliers, partners and air carriers. The position requires active and ongoing engagement with suppliers to ensure contractual commitments are met, and leverage in-depth product and industry knowledge to deliver optimal solutions for Amazon Air.

Key job responsibilities

- Serving as aircraft technical leader to support aircraft acquisition and fleet integration.

- Building and maintaining positive relationships with commercial and technical leaders at external suppliers and air carriers.

- Providing technical guidance and requirements to Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) and P2F partner suppliers, resolving issues to ensure P2F and aircraft maintenance programs staying on track; developing and driving the implementation of recovery plans if and when required.

- Performing aircraft inspections and providing technical oversight to identify issues and concerns and driving for resolutions.

- Leading technical negotiations with selected air carriers and suppliers to successful resolution.

- Communicating program status to senior leadership.

- Travel 25-30%

A day in the life

Your day will be dynamic and collaborative, focusing on solving complex aircraft technical issues and program challenges. You'll engage with fleet management team, technical operations teams, sourcing team, external P2F suppliers, aircraft and component OEM's, and third party contractors to understand and resolve technical issues and risks. You will also create and maintain a mechanism to communicate programs status and escalate issues to senior leadership.

About the team

The Fleet, Aviation Sourcing, and Technical (FAST) organization's role is to set the short, medium, and long-term sourcing strategies to enable the Amazon Global Air business to be successful. The organization oversees projects covering fleet, air carriers, ground handling, airframe and power-plant maintenance, ground support equipment, loading containers, fuel, and sustainability.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of program or project management experience

- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

- Bachelor's degree

- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

- 3+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience



Extended Qualifications

- 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

- 5+ years of vendor management experience

- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

- Master's degree

- Experience being responsible/leading large and complex negotiations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
