Performance Engineering team Azure Performance Engineering
The Azure Performance Engineering team works on the performance of core Azure components and services. We work on the top Azure scenarios, and are responsible for understanding performance end-to-end, and helping teams design and implement changes to reach performance and efficiency goals. We are looking for engineers with deep expertise and extensive experience in the areas of operating system, cloud, networking or storage performance to carry out and assist with deep performance analysis, and product re-design/re-implementation for optimal performance. The position provides opportunities for direct customer and business impact, technical leadership, area ownership and exec-level visibility. It also provides opportunities to work on hard problems with some of the top engineers in Azure.

Using available inputs and domain expertise to create new, and refine existing, workloads and performance experiments covering end-to-end cloud scenarios Defining, enhancing and implementing the next generation of instrumentation and other capabilities to generate performance data in cloud environments Using telemetry and results of performance experiments to provide performance analysis, insights, and opportunities for improvement Working with engineering teams to make design and implementation changes to deliver best-in-class performance
The ideal candidate combines strong design and development skills, and passion for performance analysis and improvement. Excellent software design and C/C++ implementation skills, and technical leadership ability Excellent software analysis skills with focus on performance, concurrency, virtualization, hardware and software interactions Deep knowledge of networking, storage or compute with demonstrated ability to understand and improve the performance of OS-level components Excellent writing and presentation skills Kernel mode programming and debugging experience Ability to prototype performance
