The Microsoft Public Affairs team manages external communications on a diverse set of issues at the intersection of technology, public policy and societal impact. This includes issues such as privacy, security, public policy, environmental sustainability, accessibility, corporate social responsibility, legal affairs, litigation, and corporate philanthropy. As a result, we work every day on the issues that drive media cycles and broad public discussion about the impact of technology around the world. We work to help increase understanding of the issues, shine a light on the work that the company is doing, and demonstrate Microsoft's commitment to building trust with all of our stakeholders including governments, civil society, customers and partners. This is a high-profile role, working in close partnership senior leaders in Microsoft's Corporate, External and Legal Affairs team (CELA), the communications function and the broader company. Responsibilities include: Building strategic proactive communications plans on key priorities including ethics and AI, intellectual property, legal issues, competition and compliance. Serve as the senior trusted communications counselor to Microsoft's general counsel and the large Legal Affairs group. Media management and media relations with top tier, global media. A minimum of 12 years in communications roles in a corporate environment, government, media, advocacy groups or a top tier agency environment. Media management and media relations experience, including with top tier outlets. Exceptional written communications skills and a passion for creative storytelling in a digital environment. Experience managing a small team Strong knowledge and experience with social media.
